Exploring, picking up objects to use with other objects (some rube goldberg style some not) and a fun story. You are Guybrush Threepwood, a pun making pirate captain fighting undead pirate LeChuck and saving his beloved Elaine Marley (who is no slouch herself). I suggest skipping the first one, it's controls were annoying and it's definitely shows its age (or not, it's not expensive) but I enjoyed the others. I've been meaning to sit and play this one again.Ĭurse of Monkey Island: all of these are fun. A few puzzles (the hardest one was the gemstones, a guide easily found online can assist), exploring the forest and the town and talking to people. You play as Robin Hood, exploring the forest, harrying the Sheriff, and protecting Maid Marian. This one was the first game I devoted hours to, I swear it's ahead of its time. Robin Hood, Conquest of the Longbow: Available on GOG.

I'll come back later, but to get started, some of my favourites:

So what are your nostalgic cozy games that you like to return to? Doesn't matter how old you are, computers move so fast nostalgia can happen pretty quick. As long as it has an interesting story and a good experience playing I'm usually up to enjoy it.

I'm a millennial, I played some games years ago, I still have some games around but I still find older gems that I hadn't encountered the first time around (looking at Fantasy Life that I bought only a month or so ago and am almost 100 hours deep) and they are just as fun and cozy to play. Or you can pick up an older stand alone system and search for secondhand games. Plus, they are cheaper to buy than new games and will play on most computers. Some have even been nodded to play on a modern computer, so you don't have to muddle with a DOS emulator if you don't want to. Often some of the games being played now are done in a similar style (8bit visuals for example) and throwback to those games.īut you can still find a lot of those games. It occurred to me in the unusual cozy games thread and a comment from u/Lexagkiin that nostalgia is absolutely cozy.
